- The Virginia Horse Center Foundation retained Field Sport Concepts Ltd. affiliates McKee Carson and Blackburn Architects to assist with the long-term planning for their 573 acre site including the expansion of their equestrian facilities to include two new barns, an expanded trail system, additional RV parking and campsites, and the addition of numerous amenities.

- Charlottesville Fire Department's Fontaine Avenue Fire Station and Training Center is on track to achieve LEED Platinum Certification.  This will be the second McKee Carson project to achieve LEED Platinum Certification, the previously completed Smith Aquatic and Fitness Center also achieved LEED Platinum.  

- Construction has started on the latest addition to the Mountaintop Montessori School campus in Charlottesville.  The landscape architecture and site engineering work included the creation of a terraced rain garden system to capture stormwater runoff from the new building and renovated parking lot as well as an increase in plant material on site.

- Construction has begun on the LEED Gold seeking Charlottesville Fontaine Avenue Fire Station.  McKee Carson’s responsibilities for the project include the site planning, landscape architecture, and civil engineering work.   The design integrates Low Impact Development principles including a range of strategies designed to capture, treat, and reuse stormwater runoff from the site, as well as the use of native plants in the site’s vegetated areas.

- The James River Green Building Council has announced its 2011 Green Building Leadership Award Winners and once again the Smith Aquatic Center is receiving recognition.  The seventh annual Green Building Leadership Awards recognize outstanding green building projects that inspire and promote the transformation to a sustainable built environment.  

- Athletic Business Magazine honors the Smith Aquatic & Fitness Center with a 2011 Facility of Merit award.  The annual award for new recreational and athletic facilities focuses on their overall design and functionality.  Highlighed in the judge’s comments was the sustainable treatment of the center including the collection and treatment of 100% of stormwater on site.

- The U.S. green Building Council (USGBC) has awarded the City of Charlottesville's Smith Aquatic & Fitness Center with a LEED certification at the Platinum level!  We are proud to have been responsible for the overall site planning, landscape architecture, civil engineering and site plan approvals for this exciting project!

- McKee Carson principal and founding principal of Field Sport Concepts, Bob McKee was recently invited to present at the Virginia Conservation Network's 2011 Virginia Conservation Assembly at Wintergreen Resort.  His talk, "Investing in Habitat Restoration," used a series of case studies to make the case for implementing innovative conservation strategies and rural recreational programming as methods for adding value to landowners' holdings.

- We are proud to announce our participation in the 2011 Charlottesville Better Business Challenge, a campaign to promote green business practices within the Charlottesville community. Based on our initial assessment, our efforts to operate sustainably have already earned us a Certified+ rating!

- Field Sport Concepts, of which McKee Carson is an affiliate, was recently invited to serve as a regular contributor to the LandThink Community.  Look out for our articles in the near future.

- Information about Field Sport Concepts will be available October 7th - 29th at the Chroma Projects art gallery in Charlottesville during the "Farm Use" show, a collaboration between Chroma and the Piedmont Environmental Council highlighting sustainable agriculture.

- Fox Hollow Farm illustrates truly quintessential Field Sport Concept project by combining conservation and recreation including multiple field sport activities into comprehensive plan.

- Bundoran Farm recognized by Audubon International as a Certified Gold Signature Sanctuary (the first in the Commonwealth of Virginia and the first working farm certified in the US).

- Union First Market Bank wins The Garden Club of Virginia's 2007 Elizabeth Cabell Dugdale Award for Conservation for outstanding accomplishments in conservation.
